VJ Zebbler is a crazy-talented video artist – he’s provided eye-popping digital candy for everything from art shows, to concert tours, to Boston’s annual First Night celebration.
While preparing for an upcoming tour with Shpongle, Zebbler was looking for ways to harness the power of multiple computers, while still keeping his visuals tightly synchronized. In the final weeks of production, I was brought in to help make sure the video and lighting computers could talk to one another, in a way that meshed with Zebbler’s live performance style.
After testing a couple of different techniques, we decided to link the computers using networked OSC, with help from a custom Processing script written by our friend Sacha. The end result allowed Zebbler to have more control over the show, without having to change his workflow.
